Pécsi Brewery Zrt. and the Southern Agricultural Vocational Training Center jointly conduct a professional training course in Craft Brewery, the practical location and professional background of which is the Pécsi Brewery itself.
Recently, there has been an increased interest in craft beers and beer culture, but there has been a decade-long shortage of brewing training in Baranya County. For this reason, the organizers began recruiting in the fall of 2023, which has aroused enormous interest among adults. Twenty-five people are participating in the training, which is implemented with state support and within the framework of adult education.
One of the key areas of Pécsi Sörfőzde Zrt. is research and development. Within the framework of R&D activities, product development, tender innovations and the reception of trainees, in addition to this, the postgraduate training of the Master Brewer Engineer of the University of Pécs is also implemented in cooperation with Pécsi Sörfőzde. The same highly qualified, experienced team of professionals teaches the participants of the Craft Brewery course.
Now, those interested in beer production and beer culture have also been given the opportunity to gain a professional qualification. Several of the adult participants took up the course as a hobby or out of sheer curiosity, while others would like to open their own craft brewery.
The organizers based the course on brewery history, factory tours and tastings, thus providing an insight into the magical world of beer making. In the oldest and most experienced Hungarian brewery (founded in 1848), the knowledge and brewery stories are endless. The group came together in the fall of 2023 while hiking among the centuries-old walls.
The 400-hour training will end in August 2024; the theoretical lessons will gradually be replaced by factory practice, which will be small-group factory work in the various production units of the Pécs Brewery. Practical knowledge will be acquired by the participants of the training in the form of knowledge transfer, while getting to know the different work areas one after the other.
