This fall, Pécsi Brewery proved that it is committed to supporting local communities. The company contributed Radler Reboost Cherry isotonic refreshment to the special challenge of Balázs Nedjalkov, an Abay Nemes Oscar-winning athlete from Pécs, to complete the Double Everesting on the Pécs ski slope.
Balázs, who has won numerous ultramarathon races, has achieved a historic sporting achievement. He became the first Hungarian and only the 24th person in the world to complete the Double Everesting challenge, with the 5th fastest time ever achieved worldwide.
During the challenge, Balázs covered 126.6 kilometers on the Pécs ski slope, while overcoming an elevation gain of 17,752 meters. He was on the move for 42 hours, 6 minutes and 44 seconds to achieve the feat, with a net travel time of 31 hours and 42 minutes, with only one 30-minute sleep break. During the Double Everesting challenge, you have to climb a mountain or hill repeatedly on the same route until you reach the 8,848-meter elevation gain of Mount Everest twice, all in one go, recorded with GPS.
The sporting event was not only a physical test of strength, but also served important charitable purposes. With Balázs's performance, he supports the work of the TÁMASZ Foundation in Pécs, who are raising funds to purchase a crisis container with a shower and capacity for 4-5 people, a safe shelter that will provide assistance to those in need during the winter, especially in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Proper refreshment was key for the challenge participants, so Pécsi Brewery was happy to provide Radler Reboost isotonic drinks so that the runners could complete the distance with energy and momentum.
